Is the customer signature legally binding?
A typed or drawn signature on a web form has been treated as a valid electronic signature under the US E-SIGN Act and most state UETA laws for two decades, including for service authorizations. That said, every state has its own consumer-protection rules around auto repair specifically, so check what your state requires on a written estimate — many require a dollar ceiling and the customer name and date, all of which this template captures.
Can I add a deposit or down-payment field?
Yes. The base template focuses on the estimate itself, but you can ask the AI editor to add a deposit amount field, a payment-method dropdown, or a "pay 50% now" option. The form rebuilds in plain English — you describe what you want and it appears.
